The European Chamber Nanjing Chapter has the pleasure to invite you to participate and witness the board election 2017 on Tuesday, the 18th of April. This special occasion is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for you to share your ideas about the Chamber’s future. After the election, the European Chamber will launch the China Manufacturing 2025: Putting Industrial Policy Ahead of Market Forces report and will host an executive level networking event in the evening.

Section I: Board Election
The Nanjing Board Election where the Chair of the Nanjing Board (1), Vice Chair (1) and Nanjing Board positions(3)are elected, will take place on the 18th April at the Shangri’La Hotel Nanjing.
Please allow me to introduce the Election procedure.
Who can run for election?
1. Chair (1 position) – Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber
2. Vice Chair (1 position) - Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber
3. Board Member (3 positions)– Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber or any individual member
Who can vote?
You can vote in the election if you:
1.a Are a designated representative (the main contact between the European Chamber and your company), or
1.b Are an individual member
and
2. Paid the membership fee for 2017 (please make sure that the Chamber has received and confirmed your membership payment by no later than the 30th of March 2017.)
How can I vote?
You are welcome to cast your vote either in person or by designating a proxy to vote on your behalf.
1)You can vote in person by secret ballot at the election venue. Please note that even if you have voting rights confirmed by the Secretariat of the Chamber, you must have registered for the Board Election in order to exercise this vote.
2) Assign a proxy to vote on your behalf by 11th April 2017 noon. Please fill in the proxy Form and send a scanned copy to Haiyan You at hyyou@europeanchamber.com.cn or in person at the Chamber office in Nanjing (Room 806, 8/F, No. 99 Zhongshan Road, Gulou District, Nanjing).
The proxy must be a colleague from your own legal entity and must be present to vote. This requirement has only one exception for the Individual member, who may give his/her proxy to another individual member/corporate member in South China.
Proxies received after the deadline and in a format different from those listed above will not be accepted.
How can I run for election?
The nomination period is open from now until the 11th of April, 2017, 2 pm..
If you would like to run for the Nanjing Board Chair, Vice Chair, or Board member, you need to:
1) Be nominated by two designated representatives of other members eligible to vote (please refer to the above section “who can vote and run for elections?”)
2)Fill in and sign the Nomination Form. The nomination form must also be signed by both the proposer and the seconder, who must be members of the sectoral working groups in good standing (with paid dues).
3) Send the nomination form scanned by e-mail to Haiyan You at(hyyou@europeanchamber.com.cn) or in person at the Chamber office in Nanjing by the 11th of April, 2017, 2 pm.
4) Provide a short bio and letter of motivation scanned by e-mail to Haiyan You at(hyyou@europeanchamber.com.cn) or in person at the Chamber office in Nanjing by the 11th of April, 2017, 2 pm..

Section II: The Launch of China Manufacturing 2025: Putting Industrial Policy Ahead of Market Forces
On the 18th of April, 2017, the Nanjing Chapter of the European Chamber of Commerce in China will release a major study on the China Manufacturing 2025 (CM2025) industrial policy initiative that officially commenced in 2015. This report provides a detailed examination of the focus and goals of the initiative for upgrading China’s industrial base and moving to the forefront in ten industries that the Chinese authorities have identified as future drivers of the economy. It also evaluates the initiative’s ramifications for European business, both in China, Europe and third-country markets, recommendations for adjusting and responding to the initiative are also provided for the Chinese Government, the governments of the European Union Commission and Member States, and European businesses.
