The EU SME Centre, the European Union Chamber of Commerce and the China IPR SME Helpdesk are delighted to invite you to join our Inter-Chamber Working Group Meeting, where Mr. Marco Gasparroni, CEO of Exprivia IT Solutions (Shanghai) and Ms. Aida Balbuena-Díez, Project Officer at the IPR SME Helpdesk, will discuss technology transfer in China, more concretely the legal environment surrounding IP protection in China, the steps to take for European companies wanting to transfer technology or seeking to protect their IP, and the challenges they can face in China.
The Working Group meeting will take place on the 4th of April from 10:30 to 12:30 in the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Beijing and Shanghai offices, with one speaker in Shanghai and one in Beijing.

This meeting is available to European small and medium enterprises and SME intermediary organisations such as embassies or consulates, chambers of commerce and trade associations only. Speakers
Mr. Marco Gasparroni is regional head Greater China for Exprivia Group and CEO of Exprivia IT Solutions (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. He is Vice-President of the Italy Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC). He is among the funders’ members and vice-chair of the CCIC Healthcare Working Group, which is gathering the leading Italian companies operating in the healthcare sector in China.
He has previously served as Executive Director of the EU-China Project Innovation Center, the innovation platform based in Chengdu promoting trade, investment and technical cooperation between the European Union and China. Mr. Gasparroni has also worked at Siemens advising on strategy and corporate planning. In this position, he has launched the business segment “Energy & Environmental Solutions” in Belgium.
Mr. Gasparroni has been driving multinational companies in establishing and developing their activities in China for more than 10 years: among other activities, he has served as CEO and CFO for leading corporations in telecommunication and media fields. Mr. Gasparroni was also co-founder and General Manager of the South-China Chapter of the European Chamber of Commerce in China. He received a Masters’ Degree in Economics and a MBA from ISTAO, one of the oldest business schools in Italy. Mr. Gasparroni is visiting lecturer at the Adam Smith Business School - University of Glasgow and ISTAO Business School on Industry Digitalization and China Economy.
Ms. Aida Balbuena-Díez is Project Officer for the China IPR SME Helpdesk, where she helps EU SMEs navigate the IP system in China. She holds an LL.M in International, European and Business Law from the China-EU School of Law in Beijing, as well as a Bachelor degree in Spanish law from Carlos III University of Madrid and a Bachelor degree in French law from Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense University. She is also a member of the World Intellectual Property Office GREEN Experts database and the author of ¨Chinese Foreign Direct Investments in Europe and the United States: A comparative study of antitrust regulations¨ in Eugenio Briales & Pablo Sanz´s (coordinators) Insights on Chinese Business Law: Analysis of Legal Reforms, Development and Trends (to be published this year).
Before joining the Helpdesk, she worked at the EU Delegation in Beijing and at the Spanish General Consulate in Paris.
