Environment Working Group Meeting
European Chamber Office
Tuesday, 11th December 2007, 9:00am
Dear Environment Working Group Members,
We are delighted to announce that the next Environment WG meeting will take place on Tuesday, 11th December 2007 at 9am at the office of the European Chamber in Shanghai. Ms. Sheri Xiaoyi Liao, Founder of Global Village of Beijing, will be our guest speaker at the next meeting. GVB is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental organisation which was founded in 1996 in order to develop environmental education in China. After graduation, Ms. Liao worked for the China Academy of Social Science and then was a visiting scholar on International Environmental Politics at the University of North Carolina in the US before returning to China to set up GVB in 1996. She is also currently acting as Environmental Advisor to the Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games next year.
Ms Liao and the Global Village of Beijing have been widely reported on in various media outlets in China and also by many international mainstream media such as CNN, Newsweek and Reuters. GVB is also part of the Green Choice Initiative which is made up of 21 Chinese environmental NGO's aimed at encouraging consumers in China to consider a company's environmental performance in guiding their daily purchasing decisions. This is a great opportunity to hear from an influential Chinese environmental NGO on their work to increase environmental awareness in China.
To register your attendance at this meeting, please contact Ms. Carlijn Linscheer at clinscheer@euccc.com.cn by email before Friday, 7th December 2007.
