Dear Working Group member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Carbon Market Sub-Working Group Meeting. It will be held on Thursday, 1 June, 9:30 – 11:30 at the European Chamber offices in Shanghai and Beijing via video conference.
With the pilot Emissions Trading System (ETS) presently in operation across China, the launch of China’s national ETS will likely take place in the second half of 2017. The national ETS is expected to transform into a mature market by 2020, becoming the world’s biggest carbon market. At this stage, it is still unclear how some of the aspects of the national ETS will work.
Understanding the financial implication of the national ETS, what instruments will be at stake and what opportunities – as well as obligations – will be there for traders still remain a unclear for many companies operating in this sector.
The European Chamber would like to invite you for a discussion with Mr Albert de Haan, CEO at Carbon Rooster BV. Mr de Haan has an extensive experience in the field of carbon market. As co-founded of the European Climate Exchange, he was consultant for numerous governments and public bodies (for example, he was member of the advisory body to DG Climate, European Commission). Since 2016, he has been regularly working in China as part time advisor to EEX Leipzig to develop joint market actions with Pilot Exchanges and Shanghai Clearing House.
