Dear Working Group member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Sub-Carbon Market Meeting and Chair Elections. It will be held on Friday, 24 March, 9:30 – 11:15 at the European Chamber offices in Beijing. Shanghai members can join via conference call system.
As the initial starting date of National ETS is just around the corner, the Chair of WG will give a brief update about the current status of preparation for the National ETS. In this context, Mr. Wang Shu, former Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department in NDRC, will join the meeting and contribute to the discussion on ETS, climate change policy and the next steps to take.
At the next Working Group meeting, we will also have a discussion on the sub-Carbon Market Working Group Position Paper (PP) 2017/2018, trying to target the main key recommendations of the sub-Carbon Market Working Group Position Paper 2017/2018 and spot the lead pens.
In addition, the 2017 - 2018 Chair elections will be held at the next Working Group meeting. The Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings.
The Sub-Carbon Working Group is going to elect one Chairperson and one Vice-Chairpersons. In this context, the following members (whose CV and motivation letters you may find attached) have submitted their candidacies:
Chair in Beijing:

Vice Chair in Beijing:
- Members who wish to apply for the position of Vice-Chair of the Carbon Marker Sub-Working Group in Beijing can still submit their candidacy at crovelli@europeanchamber.com.cn
Tentative agenda:
- 9:30 – 9:45: Chair + Vice-Chair Elections;
- 9:45-10:30:Update and discussion about the current status of preparation for the National ETS.
- 10:30-11:15: Discussion on the sub-Carbon Market Working Group 2017/2018 (appointment of the lead pens and drafting of the KRs)
As usual, we welcome your suggestions for possible agenda topics and speakers for this and future meetings.
