A New Preeminent Orchestra, A Celebrity Host and A Good Cause

March 14, 2019 – The 2019 Kempinski Vienna Ball Beijing press conference was successfully held at the Austrian Embassy. As one of the key partners of the event, the Austrian ambassador to China, H.E. Friedrich Stift, expressed his excitement of the culture exchange between two historical cities and announced the attendance of the President of the Federal State Parliament in Vienna, which will be held on 13 April at Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center. At the conference, the hotel announced the world-renowned orchestra the Strauss Festival Orchestra as the new musical highlight and unveiled the ball’s star host Allan Wu, presenter of the show The Amazing Race Asia. The press conference presented over 70 regional and international media attendees an insight to a cultural event bridging the passion for music and art between the two historical cities of Beijing and Vienna.

Speaking on the strengthening relations between China and Austria throughout the event, Friedrich Stift said the ball will provide "Unparalleled Viennese culture and one of the most important insights into Austrian lifestyle to Beijing, the city of the imperial traditions and the joy of life." He continued "I am pleased to say that the President of the Federal State Parliament in Vienna, Mr. Ernst Woller, will be gracing us with their presence as ambassadors of the Viennese Ball in China."

Brice Péan, managing director of Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center, shared the ambassador's sentiment stating that "Since its inception, Kempinski shares and maintains a dedication to art and music to the capacity of incorporating it into our daily works and lives. It's in Kempinski's DNA to bring the same appreciation to the fans, connoisseurs and aficionados of great music, art and fashion of Beijing."

As the first European hotel in China, Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center for the fifth year hosts a grand event that brings a jewel of Austrian history and lifestyle to China –a truly Viennese ball in the magnificent setting of one of Beijing’s most remarkable hotels. Every year, for the past five years, the event has seen guests and performers from all over the world enjoy an inspiring tradition of good classical music, waltz, cuisine and extraordinary entertainment. This year we continue the Viennese tradition with a debutante committee and quadrille, led by directing choreographer Heinz Heidenreich, former principal of the Vienna State Opera Ballet. Furthermore, the ball will offer a signature 5-course gala dinner with Austrian delicacies and specialties. Alight with culinary offers, entertainment performances will also have guests experience live operettas performed by acclaimed European singers, ballroom dancing, and glamorous guests.

This year's ball will introduce its support for the advancement of local community art. Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center is cooperating with HeFeng Foundation, an initiative aimed at the development of art programs in rural China. All proceeds from the ball's charity raffles will go towards the HeFeng Foundation. Also this year, the ball will introduce the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna. Renowned around the world, SFO has performed in some of the world's most notable stages like the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, the Herkules Hall in Munich and the Vienna Musikverein. Notable additions also include our star celebrity host, Allan Wu, who will provide the evening's entertainment a more interactive approach with the guests themselves. The event will bring high culture and entertainment to an exclusive 700 members of politicians, socialites and ball lovers and distinguish itself as Beijing's truest Viennese affair.
