China-EU Economic, Trade Relations Enjoy Bright Future:Europe Day Susscessfully Held in Nanjing

Nanjing, May 14, 2018 - the celebration of the Europe day co-organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Nanjing Chapter and the Department of Commerce, Jiangsu Provincial Government, was held at the InterContinental Hotel today. The representatives of the EU Delegation, think tanks, the Jiangsu local government and the Chinese and European business  in Jiangsu  gathered together to will explore the still evolving economic relationship between China and Europe and the prospect of the investment between EU and Jiangsu.

Europe Day is an annual celebration of peace and unity in Europe. This year, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Nanjing Chapter organized this event with Department of Commerce, Jiangsu Provincial Government. EU is China's top trade partner and China-EU economic relation plays an important role both in China and EU, as well as in the international community. With the announcement of "The Belt and Road" initiative, the bilateral investment and economic relations between China and EU have entered into a new stage.

In this event, Mr. Ulrich Weigl, Minister-Counsellor, Head of Trade Section, EU Delegation to China delivered speech and presented the key figures and facts on EU-China trade and investment. The representatives from the European and Chinese business in Jiangsu shared their experience in investing in China and Europe and discussed the opportunities and challenges under the guidance of recent favourable policies.

The Nanjing Chapter Chairman, senior VP from BSH Home Appliances (China) Co., Ltd. | Bernhard Weber said: "the local government has provided great support to the European business in Jiangsu. The recent policies on promoting the foreign investment have released positive signals to our member enterprises. At the same time, I believe that the "16+1" and "The Belt and Road”Initiatives will become a crucial mechanism and platform in EU-China relations. I believe this win- win mode will further deepen EU-China cooperation and friendship."
