Bayer Supply Centre Factory Tour

On the 28th March, the European Chamber was hosted by Bayer for a tour of their newly upgraded supply center in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BETDA). This facility had recently received a new 100m Euro investment, creating the largest pharmaceutical site anywhere in Bayer Pharmaceutical’s global production network.

After a short bus ride to the facility, guests were greeted by Vice President & Head of Product Supply China, Dr Aleksandar Putic who introduced the plant and Bayer’s mission in China. In the second part of the pre-tour seminar, Vice President of Public & Government Affairs, Prof. He Mengsheng presented some of the key takeaways from the recent ‘Lianghui’ meetings outlining some of the specific points relating the pharmaceutical industry and to foreign invested enterprises.

Before being allowed on the factory floor guests went through the clean room; changing several pairs of shoes, putting on overalls and face masks, and finally entering the air lock. During their tour guests were granted substantial access to factory personnel who were on hand to answer the many questions that arose during the visit.
