Yangtze River Delta SME Forum 2015

SMEs in China have achieved rapid and sustainable growth in the past two decades. Such growth has increasingly contributed to China’s economic development. Yet, rising labour challenges, and limited SME financing continuously affect SMEs’ growth. This brings to the fore the need for more efficient and professional services to SMEs to enhance their competitiveness. 

On August 28, the European Chamber, in cooperation with the EU SME Centre and the China IPR SME Helpdesk, held a half-day conference and invited various speakrs from different backgroup to present solutions to the top issues facing foregn SMEs in China. Mr. Marcus Wassmuth, Chief Representative, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, opened the conference with the topic of access to funding. He was then followed by Mr. Jan Holthuis's, Managing Partner, HIL International Lawyers & Advisers, presentation on managing late payments. Later in the afternoon, Ms. Ying Wang, Partner - Head of China Employment Practice, Bird & Bird, talked about the legal Requirements on Salaries and Benefits for SMEs in China, Mr. Reinout van Malenstein, IP Expert, China IPR SME Helpdesk, presented on the topic of protecting IP, and Ms. Ludmila Hyklova, Market Access Advisor, Legal, EU SME Centre Expert, explained how to prevent common labour disputes. Mr. Gabor Holch, Chair of SME Forum of the European Chamber, Shanghai, moderated the event and led the two Q&A sessions.
