Chamber Hosts Seminar on Effective IP Enforcement

On 29th August, the European Chamber’s Shanghai Chapter organised a seminar on effective intellectual property (IP) enforcement under the newly amended Anti-unfair Competition Law. Ruan Li, deputy director general of the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce, and Qian Guangwen, chief judge of the No. 2 Division of the Shanghai Intellectual Property (IP) Court, delivered keynote speeches on the background and purpose of amending the Anti-unfair Competition Law. In order to better protect brand owner's rights, the Shanghai Municipal Government issued a document aiming to strengthen IP protection. The keynote speeches were followed by a panel discussion on the IP marketplace with participants from the local government, European businesses and IP lawyers.
