Chapter Discusses Environmental Regulations with German Embassy in China

On 27th July, Mr Bernhard Weber, chairman of the Chamber’s Nanjing Chapter, led a delegation of members to meet with Johannes Regenbrecht, minister of the German Embassy in China, and Claudia Spahl, acting consul general of Germany in Shanghai, to discuss the local business environment and the effect environmental rules and regulations have had on it.

Members shared their concerns regarding the recent changes to environmental law and discussed the effect national environmental inspections were having on their operations. At the end, they went on to discuss trade tensions between the United States and China and speculated on how European business would change in response. 

Mr. Regenbrecht highly appreciated the feedbacks from members and he exchanged his opinions and stances on the above issues. He also encouraged the members to share their concerns with the local government via multiple channels and he highly spoke of the government dialogue channel built by the Chamber.  In addition, Mr.Regenbrecht shared the import and export statistics between Germany and Jiangsu.

Mr.Weber presented the Business Confidence Survey and 18 Months after Davos Report to Mr.Regenbrecht.
