Chamber Presents on Local Business Environment to Shanghai Government Officials

On 29th June, the European Chamber’s Shanghai Chapter jointly organised a seminar on the local business environment with the Shanghai Municipal Government’s Development and Research Centre. Dr Ioana Kraft, general manager of the Chamber’s Shanghai Chapter, shared some key findings from the European Business in ChinaBusiness Confidence Survey 2018.

Despite European businesses performing well last year, they feel that doing business in China is becoming progressively more difficult. Members of the automotive; auto components; investment; petrochemical, chemical and refining; and pharmaceutical working groups shared their issues and concerns on behalf of their respective industries. 

Ms. Xu Zheng, Deputy Director Genera of the Center chaired the meeting and said the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Party Committee attached great importance to the improvement of business environment and has organized a series of studies to collect industry feedback. Officials of Shanghai Municipal Commerce Commission, Development and Reform Commission, Food and Drug Administration, Customs, Financial Services Office and Health and Family Planning Commission, as well as scholars of Shanghai Academy, were also present at the meeting.
