Meeting with the Legislation Department of former AQSIQ

A European Chamber delegation of fashion and leather business paid a visit to the legislation department of former State Administration of Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, AQSIQ (now the State Administration for Market Regulation, SAMR) and had a profiting view exchange with the Director General Xu Xinjian and six officials from departments of product supervision, quality administration, enforcement and supervision and the defective products recalling centre, on the two important legislation of their 2018 work plan - revising the Product Quality Law and drafting the Quality Promotion Law. 

Representatives from the Fashion and Leather Desk reported the practical issues facing them in the law enforcement of the Product Quality Law and made recommendations on its revision in particular from the aspects of defining quality compliance in line with the Standardisation Law and setting legal liabilities adapting to violations of compulsory standards which concerns safety of products and wrong-doings in labels.

DG Xu and other officials respectively commented on the concerns of law enforcement, product inspection and recalling system and introduced in details the current studies and next step of the mentioned law’s revision and draft. Both sides agreed to have further communication with officials in charge of consumer protection and quality inspection in circulation after SAMR finishes its institutional reform.
