Joint Meeting with Beijing Municipal Government

Mats Harborn, President of the Chamber together with over 40 members attended a joint meeting with officials from Beijing Municipal Government led by Mr Chen Jining, Acting Mayor and Ms Cheng Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government. At the joint meeting, Mats delivered a speech on the opening up of science & technology in Beijing, provided recommendations on building Beijing into a R&D friendly city, and he talked about the Chamber’s following up of the implementation of Circular No. 5 and Circular No. 39. He has also mentioned some challenges faced by the members such as the internet speed, IPR concerns and short lead time, etc.  Representatives from AmCham, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China, Beijing Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment also delivered speeches in the joint meeting. Officials from relevant departments of Beijing Municipal Government briefed on the latest development of their work respectively. Mr Chen Jining made the conclusion remarks, saying that the Beijing Municipal Government welcomes and appreciates the contribution made by FIEs to the economic development of Beijing. The Government would like to have more opportunities to exchange ideas and have dialogues with FIEs. He said that more effort would be made to deepen the reform of its service sectors and build Beijing into capital city with a more favorable investment environment for the FIEs.
