Chamber Vice President Addresses at the 2017 China-EU Conference on Sustainable Urbanisation

 

As the consortium partner in the Project Urban EU-China Innovation Platform on Sustainable Urbanisation, the Chamber co-organised the 2017 China-EU Conference on Sustainable Urbanisation, initiated by the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD), with the support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Chamber Vice President Massimo Bagnasco led a delegation of 22 members to this conference.

During the VIP session, Mr Bagnasco presented the European Chamber Position Paper 2017/2018 to Ms Huang Yan, Vice Minister of MOHURD and expressed the Chamber’s wish of working together with Chinese stakeholders to improve investment environment for foreign investment in China. In the panel dialogue on innovation-driven urban development, Mr Bagnasco provided his insights on the development of new cities and Xiong An New Area with greener, high-quality and human-centred method, and also emphasised the significance of participation of industries, particularly the European business with the edge in urban planning and relevant technologies. In addition, Mr Bagnasco also chaired the parallel forum on people’s well-being oriented urban development together with Mr Zhu Rongyuan, Deputy Chief Planner of CAUPD.
