Meeting with Vice Administrator of SAC

The Chamber sent a delegation of seven members to attend a meeting with Vice Administrator Yu Xinli of the Standardization Administration of China. At the meeting, members called for more openness, fairness and transparency in the standardization work in China. They have also voiced their concerns and recommendations on the draft Guiding Opinions on the FIEs’ Involvement in China’s Standardization. Officials from General Affairs Management Department of the SAC responded to some of the issues raised at the meeting, such as equal treatment of both domestic businesses and FIEs, FIEs’ participation in TCs and bilingual version of relevant standards and regulations. In her concluding remarks, Vice Administrator Yu commented that the Chinese government has attached much importance to the standardization by honoring its WTO commitments. The SAC is also trying to conduct more dialogues and encourage more involvement of the FIEs despite the challenges in the implementation of relevant policies. They will listen more to the FIEs and aim to release the finalized Guiding Opinions this September or October.
