Meeting with MEPs (S&D Delegation to China)

With the upcoming EU-China Business Summit seen as an opportunity to restart the political dialogue between the EU and China, the S&D Delegation to China received a first-hand insight about the current situation of doing business in China.

The President of the European Chamber stressed that while some foreign companies might find the situation improved, others think the contrary. In this context, China should be accountable for the promises made. Market access barriers should be removed to ensure a level playing field for all players; the negotiations on the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) should receive a boost; the EU should push China to come forward with its promised reforms; China should improve its implementing and enforcement efforts at the local level of policies adopted at the national level.
