Meeting with DDG of Shanghai DRC on Free Port

In the meeting, DDG Zhu Min introduced the plan of upgrading Yangshan Port and Pudong Airport into Free Port and would like to listen to companies' advice. Representatives from shipping industry, auto component industry and pharmaceutical industry took part in the workshop and provided recommendations. 

Shipping industry advocated that Shanghai Free Port could open international relay for foriegn-flagged vessels, deepen the channel for large vessels as well as abolish tally services which are mandatory and redundant.

Representative from auto component industry recommended that apart from the construction of free port, the living environment in the surrounding areas should also be imporoved to attract talents. He also suggested that some preferential policies in bonded areas could also be replicated elsewhere so that companies could be more flexible to choose their locations, particularly close to their customers.

Representative from pharmaceutical industry hoped that warehousing and logistics policies in bonded areas could be replicated to their R&D and storage facilities based on a "One Company, One Policy" basis. They called for more preferential policies for companies with good credit and high investment.
