JOB TITLE: Project Officer (PO)
LOCATION: Beijing – with business travel within PRC and possibly abroad
START DATE: immediately (01.01.2017)
For the project “German Energy Transition Expertise for China” in Beijing (duration: September 2016 to December 2019), we are looking for a qualified Project Officer (PO) with English language skills and a major related to energy in general, renewable energies in particular or a closely related field.
The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It uses German as well as international experience and best practices in order to support the sustainable development of the Chinese power sector and the work of the China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC).
It aims to:
· strengthen the capacities of CNREC as a leading Chinese think tank for renewable energies, their promotion and system integration
· strengthen the international cooperation and orientation of CNREC
· serve as a focal point for the bilateral exchange on questions of the sustainable transformation of the energy sectors in China and Germany (Energiewende), with a focus on renewable energies
· make the experiences of key stakeholders of the German energy transition available for China
Your main tasks under the general guidance of the project manager are the planning, organization and execution of project activities (workshops, trainings, study tours, publications) in the framework of the overall project activities with CNREC and its international partner institutions as well as supporting the project team with research and administrative tasks. You will work in close cooperation with the Chinese project partners, the National Energy Administration (NEA) and the China National Renewable Energy Center (CNREC) as well as project partners based in Germany and internationally. You will actively cooperate with partner organizations, key stakeholders, domestic and international experts, relevant government agencies, academic institutions, associations, and companies.
Your responsibilities
- Support and independent implementation of the tasks under the supervision of project director / project manager, especially the technical and conceptual tasks in the relevant fields related to renewable energies
- Support of the complex coordination processes with the international and German cooperation partners as well as the Chinese implementation partners
- Planning, coordination and organization of the project activities (e.g. conferences, workshops, trainings, seminars, study tour, publications) under the supervision of project director / project manager
- Maintenance and development of the local networking with partners
- Translating and interpreting from English (and if possible German) to Chinese and vice versa.
Skills & experience
- Bachelor degree (or higher) in an area related to the project’s topics , e.g. energy, infrastructure, engineering or political science
- 1-3 years professional work experience (or internships) in the private or public sector; experiences in the energy sector and government relations / international cooperation project are considered as a strong asset;
- Native Chinese speaker, advanced English language skills required, knowledge of German is a plus
- High degree of organizational skills and quick perception
- Excellent communication skills, diplomatic skills and networking competence
- Effective computer skills for standard desktop software (MS Office)
